Coronavirus

Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause infection in the nose, sinuses or upper throat and lungs. The viruses cause illness like the common cold or more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).

It was found that SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats to humans and MERS-CoV from dromedary camels to humans. There are several known coronaviruses that are circulating in animals but have not yet infected humans. Some of Coronaviruses are not dangerous but Some are serious.

A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans. In December 2019, the World Health Organization identified a new type, 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak in China.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was first reported from Wuhan, China, on 31 December 2019. As of now, the virus has already broken out in 77 countries. The number of infected persons are about 93,144 and persons died about 3,199.

Common signs of Coronaviruses infection are fever, cough, respiratory symptoms, shortness of breath. In severe cases, the infection can cause pneumonia, kidney failure, and even death.

There is no specific treatment for this viral infection. Infected patients are normally given support for breathing, fluids, and pain relievers. To prevent the viruses spread, doctors have recommended regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, thoroughly cooking meat and eggs. [in 220 words]
